En Masse Entertainment (also EME) was a Seattle-based PC and mobile game-publishing company known for localizing and publishing the Korean MMO TERA in North America and for consoles.

En Masse was founded to release TERA in North America. It was fully owned subsidiary of TERA development studio Bluehole Studio. In November 2018 Bluehole and its subsidiaries were rearranged horizontally under a new parent company, Krafton Game Union. En Masse announced in August 2020 that the company will be closed. Gameforge took over PC versions of TERA in November 2020. Console versions of TERA are transferred back to KRAFTON/Bluehole console department. It seems Bluehole also took over some tasks previously made by En Masse, like translations and localization.

En Masse CEO was Chris Lee and and chief operating officer Soo Min Park subce in 2012.

En Masse specialized in publishing online free-to-play games for PC and mobile platforms. En Masse also has a specialty with localizing video games developed in Asia and publishing them in Western markets. Various other game EME has published include ZMR (Zombies Monsters Robots), Kritika, Closers.

Mission[]

"En Masse Entertainment was founded in 2009 with the goal of building loyal audiences for the finest online games in the world and a motto of 'Great Games — Great Service. En Masse successfully launched its inaugural title, TERA — a revolutionary action-combat MMO — in 2012, followed closely by the online shooter ZMR (Zombies Monsters Robots). But "Great Games — Great Service" isn't limited by platform; En Masse has expanded into mobile games with multiple titles — Fruit Attacks and Pocket Platoons"–http://www.enmasse.com

To play En Masse TERA you need to download their launcher or download TERA from Steam (only available on NA region). Steam versions are region locked. Europeans get offered Gameforge version. It's not possible to install multiple regions versions in Steam since they install in same directory and overwrite each other.

En Masse TERA is defunct since November 2020. For some reason some Steam users are still offered this version. If you try to launch it, it will just give "Host_WindowLoadTimeOut" error.

Peculiarity of EME TERA was Rewards Emporium. You could advance reward tiers by playing the game, but also by buying stuff with real money. Permanent rewards are XP bonus from hunting monsters and enchanting bonus for gear (as newest gear has like 5% success change on higher plusses, even +1% is huge).

You also collect reward credit simply by clicking button daily or playing boring single-player dungeon (recycled first floor of Crucible of Flame dungeon). reward credit was used to buy some stuff from Emporium, simple consumables on lower level, some costumes on higher reward tiers. Player loyalty reward program was opened in April 2016.[1])[2]
